My New Book is in the pipeline. Co-authored with Mr.Gireesh Balakrishnan, Reporter, Mangalam, the book is a study evaluating the change in Malayalee sensibility (Social / Cultural / Economic) over the past 30 years reflected through the real and reel life of Mohanlal, the actor. The book reviews in detail, how the typical Mallu sensibility has been reflected in the characterisation of Lal over the years and also how Lal has emerged himself to a Super Star reflecting the Mallu-ite sensibilty. As Mr. K.Jayakumar, writer and beureacrat, observes in his Foreward to the book, it reveals the intricacy of the Star-Fan relationship as well as the Character-Commonman relationship in depth. The concept of stardom is well researched in the book historically as well as socially. The book in short is an iconographic study of Mohanlal the superstar versus the Kerala Society. Published by m/s Viewpoint Publishers, Thiruvananthapuram, the book is expected to be released in a function on October 11, Sunday, at the IMA Hall, Cochin, in which Mohanlal will be the Chief Guest.
