Chandrasekhar recieves Kerala State Award














In an august function at University Senate Hall, Thiruvananthapuram, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr.V.S.Achuthanandan distributed the 39th State Film Awards 2008 on Saturday 19th September 2009. Minister for Culture and Education Mr.M.A.Baby presided over the function. M/s Jayan Babu, Hon'ble Mayor, Thiruvananthapuram, Mr.V.Sivankutty MLA, Mr. Sunny Joseph, member, state awards jury 2008, Mr. P.Vijayakrishnan, Chairman, Jury for adjudging the best writing on cinema 2008, Mr.K.R Mohanan, Chairman, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Dr.Sreekumar, Secretary, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy etc spoke in the occasion. Mr. Vijayakrishnan, noted critic and filmmaker, who incidently was the first to recieve the award for best book on cinema 25 years ago, reminded the audience that it is quite noteworthy that he has the previlage to be the chairman of the committee in its Silver Jubilee year. He also said that it should be noted that A.Chandrasekhar's award winning work has been the result of the first ever Fellowship programme instituted by the academy and that the academy should be proud on that. He also revealed that the decision of the committee was unanimous and that only 4 books where there in the final round. A.Chandrasekhar recieved the award for the best book on cinema for his bodhatheerangalil Kaalam Midikkumbol from the Chief Minister. The award consists of a plaque, memento and a cash prize of Rs 30,000.
